Lectures

The Greater-Self Awareness Lectures
with medium and sensitive Jonathan John.
Lectures start at 7:30pm. Entry £4.
Jonathan is now fulfilling a long-held ambition of working professionally within the music industry. As such, it is advisable to ring the centre before your visit to ensure that the lectures will be taking place.

Jonathan is promoting the idea of the mind as an awesome tool for self fulfilment but in a way that can be fun rather than work or drudgery. There is a ‘spiritual’dimension to his philosophy but it is neither religious nor dogmatic.

His unique presentation leaves you feeling that many profound insights have been sitting there right under your nose, waiting to be revealed. He is by turns serious, jovial, penetratingly direct and insightful, and yet when the need arises, he will demonstrate touching gentleness and compassion for the timid or vulnerable.

Jonathan John

Jonathan doesn’t claim to belong to any philosophy or orthodox ideology, although the teaching he expounds has much in common with the Mind, Body, Spirit movement, particularly the writings of Dan Millman, Jane Roberts, Richard Bach and Robert Monroe.

Central to his approach is the fact that we create our experience of life by the thoughts, ideas and beliefs that we hold in our mind. He is at pains to stress that anyone, regardless of background can activate and train their energies to achieve their own practical results and for this reason, he refuses to place limits on the teaching by giving it a label or using anyone else’s. "Let people make of it what they wish"

His evenings are characterised by a warmth and open friendliness, and an ‘otherworldly’ quality that is hard to describe - it needs to be experienced. On occasion people have been moved to tears as they experience some personal release, but in every case the audience leaves feeling uplifted, often resolving to put what they’ve learned into immediate practise. Another curious feature of these evenings is the Question and Answer session.
So many people attest to his ability to answer questions that haven’t yet been asked (and in a manner that seems personal to them) that it makes you wonder what else is going on here. He has his own explanation for this and since the recipients of the answers seem happy with them, he is happy not to dwell too much on it.
A typical meeting will consist of an introduction which is followed by the main topic for the evening, then a question and answer session, ending with a guided ‘mental energy exercise’ usually with a healing theme.

On his annual visit to Amman Valley Comprehensive School, Jonathan returned once again to gave a fascinating series of talks to the pupils who chose to attend. Almost 200 pupils from two different years turned up to hear him speak for nearly two hours, in two separate sessions. Jonathan covered topics such as the Aura, what it is, how it can be read and why this applies to the Ouija Board and it’s pitfalls - especially since most of the pupils when asked, had heard of the Ouija board and have actually had a go, despite warnings from adults not to "play with such things". He gave sensible advice about how the Ouija board is open to anyone communicating, and therefore not to believe anything spelled out as 'truth'. He also spoke about one of the many reasons for being a medium and also about films such as ‘Ghost’ and the elements of reality that they contain (one of the pupils jokingly asked him ‘Do you see dead people!’).
It was fascinating to watch the pupils think their way through the topics spoken about and come up with intelligent questions and to see Jonathan answer them in a down to earth, sensible and fun fashion, that really made them think!
Judging by the huge round of applause Jonathan received after each talk,
the pupils and teachers found the experience really enjoyable with many pupils coming to speak to him quietly after each session, about their own ‘experiences’.

I am definitely looking forward to attending the next school visit with Jonathan very soon.
Best Wishes, Jason C.

ABOUT JONATHAN JOHN....
Born in London of Trinidadian parents, Jonathan has followed a diverse twin path consisting of music and mysticism. As a musician he studied piano from the age of 5 and later violin and singing at the Newham Academy of Music in London. He was lead violinist of the academy orchestra and performed with them at the Festival Hall before members of the Royal Family. As a young pianist he secured a number of first prizes in the Stratford and East London as well as Woodford festivals. As a tenor soloist he has performed in opera and oratorio in Britain and France. He has written and performed a musical for the Oaktree Autistic Community based in Birmingham and has also spent a year as a member of Wales’ Dynion contemporary dance company, with whom he toured Britain and Germany. His other major interest has been modern day spirituality. Born a Roman Catholic and appreciative of the positive aspects gained from that religion, he nevertheless felt the need to abandon it in favour of a ‘broader’ truth. His search took him through a number of Christian denominations and also to Buddhism, as well as a number of other mystery schools. Jonathan has studied meditation and spiritual philosophy at the Centre For Greater Self Awareness in his adopted home of Swansea. Always interested in psychology and having practised as a yoga teacher for some 20 years, he regards these practises as responsible for his ability to transmit relevant information through his lectures. Any theories as to the source of his information he regards as secondary to
the content and it’s practical usefulness.
